Hi I was a member of the CIC when I lived in Chania 2002-2005. Then it was a sosiety for that region, but I see now that you are based in Rethymnon. Does that mean that the Chania group don't exist any more? Susan Marechal was the president when I first joined and we had many great walks in the mountains with our guide Marlis, as well as a number of other excursions. I wonder if any of the old members are still with you and remember me? Best regards from Goldie

Guten Tag Ich bin sehr froh, auf diese Gemeinschaft gestossen zu sein. Mein Mann (Schweizer, Ing.) und ich (Österreicherin/MA) werden ab 2020 vorwiegend auf Kreta leben. Die Insel ist ein zweites Zuhause geworden, wir haben sie vor allem wandernd erforscht und entdeckt. Derzeit lernen wir Griechisch. Es würde mich freuen, schon jetzt zu erfahren, ob es Leute gibt, die in der Umgebung Chania - Kissamos leben und vielleicht Lust auf Austausch haben. I enjoyed the archeology group's trip to the new museum of Eleutherna followed by lunch at a local taverna, very much. Our guide, Ioanna was fabulous and it was well organised by Jan. I'd like to become a member but cannot discover anywhere on the site that let's me do that. Please advise. Rhea

My husband, who is a Greek american (but an EU citizen) and I are thinking about retiring in Crete. We would love any information you could give us about where to live and any other information about life in Crete. We plan on renting for a year and then buying a home. We want to live close to the ocean and around other ex pats. I am a psychologist and am interested in volunteering and being active in the community in which I live, as is my husband. Als Kreta Fan begrüße ich diese Aktion. Ich war ???? zig mal auf Kreta und kann sagen, dass ich sehr viel kenne; nicht nur das wo alle Touristen sich aufhalten. Leider werden Ende Oktober die Bürgersteige hochgeklappt und somit ist auch für die dort lebenden Saisonarbeiter - Einheimische - Ausländer - eine trostlose Zeit. So finde ich diese Aktion super toll.... Viele, tolle Aktionen... Nur wenn ich mir ...... lach ;-))) als Tanzbär vorstelle, geht mir ein Schmunzeln über das Gesicht. Aber eine Bereicherung ist er nicht nur in der Gruppe, Organisation, eben als Mensch , ein sehr wertvoller. Kann ich beurteilen, da ich ihn 20 Jahre kenne.... Eine gute Zeit für die lange saisonlose Zeit. JUtta

1-mal pro Monat ein Bus-Ausflug, ein monatliches gemeinsames Mittagessen, Kaffee-Treff in Rethymnon jeden ersten Montag im Monat, zurzeit 2-mal in der Woche Tanzkursus, dazu noch die Exkursionen und Vorträge des Archäologie-Kreises, die Ausländer-Weihnachtsfeier der Stadtverwaltung von Rethymnon, die Silvesterfeier in Loutra, die Wanderungen plus Mittagessen mit Ralph und Kostas - eine trostlose Zeit? Das Problem im Winter besteht eigentlich mehr darin, dass kaum noch Zeit für private Dinge bleibt. Zum Glück ist im Winter aber nicht alles voller Touristen, und der Stress ist weg. Überall wo man hinkommt wird man wieder herzlich empfangen und ganz persönlich betreut.
